Engineering systems & uninterruptible power

Server hardware, cyber-protection systems and TPI tools work exactly as reliably as the cabling infrastructure and power supply beneath them. NVP «Plasmotekhnika» designs, installs and maintains structured cabling systems and guaranteed power supply systems as part of the full cycle of building a secure information infrastructure — from site survey to as-built documentation.

We are a systems integrator in the field of restricted-access information security and a manufacturer of our own certified TPI tools. That is why we build engineering systems not on a «hit-or-miss» basis but with regard to the requirements of technical information security: the routing of cable runs, the separation of networks, physical access and the power supply of critical nodes.

Structured cabling systems (SCS)

We carry out the full cycle of work to create and modernise SCS — in office buildings, server rooms and at facilities with special information security requirements:

  • survey of the facility and audit of the existing cabling infrastructure;
  • SCS design: copper links, fibre-optic backbones, cable runs, cross-connect rooms and telecommunications cabinets;
  • installation, patching and labelling of all links and ports;
  • instrumental testing of the installed links with measurement reports;
  • as-built documentation and the SCS data sheet;
  • support and development of the cabling system during operation.

For facilities where restricted-access information is processed, we separately design the separation of the cable runs of networks with different access levels, physical access control to cross-connect rooms and cabinets and, where required, shielded solutions. It is far cheaper to build these requirements into the design than to correct them before certification.

Guaranteed and uninterruptible power supply for critical nodes

A power failure halts not only users’ work — it shuts down servers, telephony, video surveillance, access control and protection tools. We build power systems that keep critical nodes running under any scenario in the electrical grid:

  • audit of the facility’s power supply, calculation of loads and of the required autonomy time;
  • uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for server rooms, communication nodes and security systems;
  • generator sets and automatic transfer switching (ATS) for extended autonomous operation;
  • dedicated power lines for critical equipment;
  • monitoring of the status of the UPS and batteries, service maintenance, and timely battery replacement.

We design power redundancy together with the server solutions and the disaster recovery plans (DRP): the UPS autonomy time, the shutdown priority of non-critical loads and the start-up of generation must match real recovery scenarios, not merely the rated specifications of the equipment.

Why engineering systems are part of a secure infrastructure

In the information security model, engineering systems are not an auxiliary subcontract but one of the lines of defence. There are at least three reasons to design them together with the protection system rather than separately from it:

  • The cabling infrastructure affects the technical channels of information leakage. Shared runs for networks of different access levels, uncontrolled cross-connect rooms and undocumented connections complicate instrumental control and certification.
  • Power supply determines the availability of protection. Cyber-protection tools, video surveillance and access control are the first to switch off without a guaranteed power supply — precisely when they are needed most.
  • TPI requirements are cheaper to account for at the design stage. If a facility faces the certification of a TPI complex or ICS security authorization under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 712, the engineering solutions must match the future security profile from the outset.

«Plasmotekhnika» covers both sides of this task: we perform technical information security work — from auditing to certification and instrumental control — and support the transition to ICS security authorization under Resolution No. 712. That is why the SCS and the power system are designed from the outset for the requirements that will later be verified.

Order a site survey

We begin work with an on-site survey: we record the condition of the cabling infrastructure and power supply, agree the information security requirements and prepare a technical solution with an estimate.
